DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (3/10/20)
Tommy is back to give you some of the players that will be in our DraftKings Basketball rosters for Tuesday, March 20th. Thanks to all our readers and followers for the continued support. Russell Westbrook (G), Houston Rockets ($10,100)
Westbrook has been killing it in Houston’s new small-ball lineup. Over the last month he is averaging 52.6 DKFP/GM and sports a whopping 33.8% usage rate (3rd highest on the slate). Tonight he gets a glorious match up with a Minnesota Timberwolves squad that ranks 3rd in pace (tied with Houston) and 21st in defensive efficiency. Westbrook is averaging 63 DKFP/GM in two games versus the T-Wolves. With a game implied total currently at 246.5, I think Westbrook is a great place to start your lineups tonight.
Patty Mills (G), San Antonio Spurs ($3,100)
With Dejounte Murray (calf strain) and Lonnie Walker (leg) ruled out, the Spurs will have to rely on Derrick White, Bryn Forbes and Patty Mills at the Guard position for the foreseeable future. Of the three, I prefer Mills and not only because of his bare minimum price tag on DK, but also due to his recent performances at his price tag. Over his last five games he is averaging 17.9 DKFP/GM and even had 34.5 DKFP against the Indiana Pacers on March 2nd. With Murray and Walker off the court, Mills owns an 18.8% usage rate and scores .81 FPTS/MIN. The match up with the Dallas Mavericks isn’t ideal, as they rank in the top half of the league in defensive efficiency (108.3) and the bottom half of the league in pace (101.4). But at $3,100 on DraftKings and a lot of studs to pay up for tonight, I’ll take a shot on Mills against Dallas.
Anthony Davis (F), Los Angeles Lakers ($9,800)
Davis and the Lakers provide the late-night hammer tonight as they host the Brooklyn Nets. Not much needs to be said for AD. He is averaging 1.61 FPTS/GM over the last month and sports a 28.37% usage rate on the year. He is simply underpriced tonight at $9,800 on DraftKings. The only thing to fear here is if the Lakers run away with this game, as they are currently 11 point favorites. Brooklyn has won three of its last four games, with wins over the Boston Celtics and San Antonio. Maybe the Nets get up for this game and continue scoring and if that’s the case give me all the AD at $9,800.
Bobby Portis (F), New York Knicks, $4,200
A lot of this play hinges on Mitchell Robinson (questionable with an illness) being out tonight. With Robinson off the court, Portis sees a 22.3% usage rate and scores .98 FPTS/MIN. The Washington Wizards also rank 26th versus opposing centers and dead last in rebound rate (47.3). If Robinson is indeed out, I don’t mind rostering Portis at $4,200 in a game projected for 228.5 total points.
*Maurice (Moe) Harkless ($3,200) also makes for a good play at a minimum price if Robinson is out.
Hassan Whiteside (C), Portland Trailblazers ($9,000)
The Trailblazers are losers of two straight and are slowly sliding into oblivion in the Western Conference standings. They get a rematch with the Phoenix Suns tonight, who just spanked them 127-117 on March 6th (All hail Aron Baynes!). Whiteside put up 58 DKFP in that game and has averaged 49.2 DKFP/GM in three games against the Suns this year. Whiteside has been a walking double-double for the Trailblazers this year and is averaging 3.1 blocks/GM this year. Both teams play at a fast pace and Vegas currently has an implied total of 232.5 points. I like Whiteside tonight against a Phoenix team that ranks 24th against opposing Centers and in a must-win game for Portland.
