Sorry Mr. Jackson

Toronto Blue Jays (21-35) @ Colorado Rockies (28-27) 8:40 PM EST

The Blue Jays send veteran right-hander Edwin Jackson (0-2, 9.00 ERA) making only his fourth start of the season to the mound against right-hander German Marquez (5-2, 3.56 ERA).

Jackson has been unable to have success in the 2019 campaign so far giving up 14 ER in 14 IP while only striking out 8. Marquez has been serviceable after signing a 5-year $43 million dollar contract this year. In 78.1 Innings Pitched, German has given up 74 hits while striking out 76.

What I especially like about this game is the Rockies bats – They are good! The Rockies bring a .320 team Batting Average, good for 3rd in MLB along with 295 Runs Scored, which is 9th in the league. The Rockies also sport a .456 slugging percentage, good for 7th in all of baseball. Expected to play for Colorado is 3B Nolan Arenando who is simply raking! 3rd in the league in Batting Average (.336) and 5th in the league in RBI’s (47). Also expected to be in the lineup today is OF David Dahl who brings a .319 Batting Average, 6th in all of baseball. Let’s not forget hot hitting SS Trevor Story who has 15 hits in his last 10 games.

Once Jackson is out (no way he pitches a CG), The Jays bullpen is 21st in the league in ER allowed (104), and 4th in the league in HRs (37) surrendered.

We all know runs can pile up at Coors Field. Combine that with the ineffective Jackson pitching vs. the booming Rockie bats – I’ll take my chances with Colorado Team Total over 6.5 runs. (-135, Heritage)
